Cherrapunji
 
 

The wet town of Cherrapunji is located 4,500 feet above sea level. This is a place with ever-lasting beauty. The Mawsmai Falls are located very close to Cherrapunji and it is the 4th highest waterfall in India. They are located at a height of 1035 feet.


Cherrapunji means ‘the land of oranges’, also called as ‘Sohra’ experiences rainfall all throughout the year. It has entered the Guinness Book of World Records, as the wettest place in the world. The good thing about this place is that it rains mostly at night.


The Khasi Monoliths is another interesting place in Cherrapunji. These consist of a maze of underground passages. This is a must-visit tourist place for new as well as experienced travellers.

 

Cherrapunji also offers some spectacular views and one can see as far as Bangladesh. Orchids, ferns and moss turn every place into a paradise.
